Wine of The week: Chryseia 2011 one of the best in the world...

It was really easy to choose the main actor for this section return. Chryseia 2011 was, not only, considered the world 3rd best wine of 2014 by the prestigious Wine Spectator as it was our company in last Christmas lunch...

A project that began in November 1998 when the Symington family proposed Bruno Prats a partnership to produce a top wine and that in its tenth harvest, the 2011, turns out to be recognized with 97 points by Wine Spectator.

A wine made from Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, is a perfect example of Portuguese Douro Valley elegant wines, with good acidity and great body. A wine to keep carefully stored and taste the evolution over the years ...

Wine of the Week: Camins del Priorat 2012

Despite its simplicity, Camins del Priorat is a  fresh and soft red wine from the  interesting the Spanish region of Priorat. In the nose is very interesting and I would even say funny...

This was the perfect ending to an totally unexpected afternoon and evening of laughs, talks and fun with friends...

I guess this will be a great year ...

Wine is much more than just a drink, it is a way of sharing and socialize, I would even dare to say it is a way of living. This is one of the explanations of the election of this wine for a very special moment: my birthday lunch...

This wine made from Antão Vaz, Arinto and Verdelho Grapes, had the perfect intensity and harmony to go with the John Dory fillets with roe panada from Dona Bia Restaurant.

Because I guess (Palpite) this will be a great year

Note: Palpite means guess in Portuguese...

Wine of The week, Cepa 21 2009

If you asked me to define the wine of this week in one word I would imediately say Elegance. This is a very well balanced wine or, instead I should say harmony, between the fruit the barrel and the alcohol. This is undoubtedly a must taste in the Ribera del Duero Region (more info at http://www.cepa21.com/en/wine/cepa-21-2009).

Thanks Miguel!

Wine of the Week: Barranco Longo White Grande Escolha 2013

The wine of this week was my first time in tasting Algarve wines, and it was a really good starting poing for future discoveries. With 6 months on french oak this wine has tropical aromas and is well-balanced and persistent in the mouth.

An excellent suggestion of Marta on our visit to restaurant Pont' a Pé in Aljezur...

Wine of the week: Lagar de Cervera 2012

If you follow us on twitter or instagram you should already be waiting for this to be  Wine of the Week, unfortunately I am writing this post just after finishing the last bottle we had at home...
I had the pleasure to discover this wine two years ago in a wine tasting in Wellington Hotel in Madrid and since then this is a must have at home.
This wine will go perfectly with seafood, fish, rice dishes or also with appetizers.
2012 was not only its 25th birthday but an excellent year for this wine which makes it an excellent price-quality wine.

Wine of the Week: Crochet 2011

Winemakers Sandra Tavares and Susana Esteban clearly selected their best needles to produce this Crochet 2011, a very harmonious wine in terms of aromas and flavours, which leds us to feel also a great relation between both producers.
A great return from the Douro Susana Esteban from whom, till now, I only knew the excellent work on in Alentejo region (Solar dos Lobos and Tiago Cabaço wineries)
If you didnt taste it yet, don't take too long as there were only 3300 bottles ...

Wine of the Week: Crasto Superior 2011

Last weekend Iwas going home for lunch at John's, and I decided to challenge him to choose two wines I had not tried before to share with you here on the blog.
This wine owes its name to the region where its grapes come from, Quinta da Cabreira, located next to Castelo Maior, in the upper Douro region (Douro Superior).
Made of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Rouriz, Sousão and Old Vines, Crasto Superior 2011 seemed fairly balanced, although for my personal taste it seemed something sweet and over-ripe fruit.
I am curious to follow its evolution and to taste it in a few more years when it gets older...

Wine of The week: Tomás Postigo Crianza 2010

Tomás Postigo who, between 1988 and 2008, created and directed one of the most iconic wines from Ribera del Duero Region, Pago de Carroviejas, launched in 2008 his own project.
After tasting this precious nectar that our friends Emily and Caesar brought us from their weekend in Ribera del Duero, Spain, I would risk to say that this wine will give much to talk about in the near future of this region and of Spanish wines...

This week a wine from D.O. Bierzo, locaten in the northwest region of Spain. Petalos del Bierzo is a mono-varietal made from Mencía Grapes, a tipe I'd never tasted before. An excellent suggestion from Jorge Trifón that was a perfect match with our amazing meal on his restaurant, el Fogón de Trifón (Madrid).

Happy New Year!

As some of you may be wondering , there is a reason behind the choice of these two wines for the new year's eve, I wanted to celebrate with my friends this project called fdgoodlife that I've started about one year and a half ago. This event preparation started about a month ago when in one of the trips Madrid-Lisbon I've stopped in Estremoz, a portuguese city that I have a special feelling for its people, its flavours and for its wines... Objective: To taste blog because in my New Year's Eve I wanted toast with friends, wine included .
by mid-morning we started by visiting the cellar of Tiago Cabaço and then we tasted four of their wines including two blog 2010. We were with my parents and with the lovely Maria, sharing stories, tasting and discovering these two great wines that share the name but have very different personalities... The Blog 10 always elegant from beginning to end and the bi-varietal (Alicante Bouchet and Sirah) more irreverent and I would say fun as was completely changing throughout the conversation .
These were such magical moments of sharing around the wine that I had no doubts that much more than because of the name these had to be in my new year's eve...

Wine of The Week: Tokara Director's Reserve 2009

This wine is one of the reasons why I still have clear in my memory the gastronomic experience in South Africa, and in this case in Stellenbosch, a paradise for any winelover in the world...
This excellent blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec, was perfectly with our meal at Tokara Restaurant which I will share with you on the next post, so perfect that when we finished we ordered some bottles which arrived Portugal on the same week of the rest of the group!
I could not finish this short post without a very special dedication to Teresa, our amazing and tireless guide during these couple of days in Cape Town area...

Wine of the Week: Finca La Emperatriz

Every time we go to the Restaurant Jota 5 in Madrid we don’t have to choose the wine we will drink because our friends immediately serve us Finca La Emperatriz Crianza 2009. This wine, from the Spanish Region of Rioja Alta e made with Tempranillo, Garnacha and Viura Grapes. As every special things the only problem is that it is not easy to find it in Madrid but finally after contacting the winery I was able to find it…  Well writing  about this wine is like writing about a friend… better meet it ;)

Wine of the Week V3

Viñas Viejas Verdejo 2009, Terna Bodegas, Rueda - Spain
White wines potential and value is frequently underestimated, even more if we are talking about a white wine with barrel...
The wine of this week demonstrates that we shall not give too much importance to prejudices... V3, which in Spanish means old win yards and Verdejo the grapes type, is a great white to drink with more complex dishes. This was the perfect solution for our Sunday lunch starter an octopus ceviche, due to its high acidity.

Wine of the Week

LU&BE 2010, Dominio de Cair Winery, Douro, Spain

This blog is about sharing and live new experiences. The wine of this week is a good example of this. This was a great recommendation of Javi when we stayed @ Capitulo Trece in Maderuelo, Spain. (take a look at the previous post here
Try it!
